I’m glad someone finally told me…

I’ve been a republican for a while now.  I’m actually a conservative, but identify with the republican party.  As every republican/conservative is doing right now we are taking a good look at our leaders which is why many of us watched the CNN debates last night amongst the GOP candidates.  Don’t worry I’m not here to push or trash any of the candidates that I thought did well or not so well last night.  To me there is a bigger issue to talk about that went on last night. 

My good friend Ali and I disagree on the measure of the media bias.  That’s fine.  We probably will never agree.  However, I think CNN really showed what they think of republicans and/or conservatives last night with the issues brought up and now the questions surrounding the actual questioners in the youtube videos.  I think as it settles in it becomes more and more obvious what the possible agenda was last night. 

 Let’s forget the fact that some of the questioners were clearly democrats such as the young girl wearing John Edwards shirts or the “farm subsidizing” questioner that was an intern for California Congressman Jane Harman(Democrat) for a second.  When did believing every word of the Bible or gays in the military become the big issues for the ‘08 election?  Why is a gay Brig General who just has to fly from California to Florida for one republican debate allowed a mic and free access to lecture the candidates?  It was an obvious plant and an obvious attempt at “Gotcha” for the republicans.  It’s typical left wing media.

 Funny me I thought the war on terror, taxes, illegal immigration, spending, and our healthcare system were the probable main issues for the election.  Illegal immigration is the only real issue that got any real play last night.  I didn’t know that by being a christian conservative that I was actually a bible thumping bigot.  I didn’t know that what we REALLY cared about was our candidates knowing every word of the Bible and whether or not they cared about a DEMOCRAT President’s policy of don’t ask, don’t tell.  Thank God I know this now so I don’t have to worry about Rangel’s 3 trillion dollar tax hike, the monstrosity of hillarycare, losing the war on terror, or even granting millions of illegals amnesty into our country.  As long as the President knows every word of the Bible and hates gay people I’m fine…aren’t you?

 So we should thank CNN for pointing out to us what we REALLY care about.   I think it’s blatantly obvious that CNN either A.) doesn’t have any respect for conservative people or B.) is so out of touch with conservative ideology that they have the comprehension and attention to detail not that far off say a 6 year old.  Maybe worse.  Once again CNN shows it’s true colors. 

Let us pray for our enemies…

I’m not going to claim that I’m somehow perfect(no matter how many people actually think I am).  I’m not going to claim that I have all of the answers in life.  That’s not for me to decide(I know what you’re thinking right now and I agree it probably SHOULD be for me to decide).  I would like to believe that we as civilians aren’t so arrogant as to tell our own military how to protect us from the evils of the world.  Yes, folks…there are many, many evils in this world that wish to do us harm.  As soon as you come to grips with that fact I can guarantee your life will become much easier.

 As of right now I can imagine anyone reading this is wondering just what in the hell I am talking about.  Well I will get to that point in just a minute.  We are at war ladies and gentlemen.  We are fighting a very, very vicious and determined enemy.  This is an enemy that is constantly plotting new events and ways as to how to harm as many citizens of “the great Satan” as possible.  That’s right.  That means you and everyone you love in this great country. 

 Donald Rumsfeld once said that the key to winning this war is gathering intelligence.  Intelligence meaning information because proper and precise information is needed to make the quick decisions needed in battle.  This is a very spread out and mobile enemy.  Knowing that I will make the point AGAIN that precise information is needed to make the quick decisions necessary for us to survive this conflict along with the attempted attacks on our soil. 

That all being said it appears to me that one of the techniques used in gathering information has come under attack.  I’m talking about “water-boarding” of course.  Stephen King recently suggested that Jenna Bush be subjected to water-boarding herself.  Stephen, you’re an idiot.  Now if you ask me I would say the military and intelligence agencies know what needs to be done to get the job done in order to protect us.  They have had years of training individually and have our best interests at heart.  I’m not arrogant enough(shocking eh?) as a private citizen to believe I know better than the men and women that are trained to do the specific job of gathering intelligence.  Therefore I will not question it and I will support them in any measure possible against our enemy in order to protect us.

 Lastly, I want to make the point that THESE ARE TERRORISTS!!!  I can’t stress that point enough.  They are part of a volunteer network of thugs and scum that wish to kill every man, woman, and child for being a part of this nation.  This network declared war ON US well before 9/11, Afghanistan, and Iraq.  Call me what you will, but I have no sympathy for those that would do us harm especially in the face gathering information that will save troop or civilian lives. 

The War is a Complete Failure….

The war is lost.  We have spent TRILLIONS on this war with no ability to gain even a foothole in this problem.  We have fought this war for long enough and to no avail.  It’s not working.  It’s time for a change in course.  I’m talking, of course, about the War on Poverty….

 Entitlement spending is the biggest thorn in the government’s side since really FDR in the 1930’s.  The “new deal” that has become a political monstrosity of Kong and Godzilla proportions.  It was further strengthened by “the great society” social policy of Lyndon Johnson in the 1960’s.  As usual with government programs what starts out as a hand of help turns into a massive undertaking.  By the way, you and your future generations are PAYING for that undertaking out of your own pocket as is how the government pays for ANYTHING.  It’s called “feel-good” politics.  Legacies are more important than a self-sufficient American people.

 Entitlement spending alone this year is costing us over 40% of our federal budget.  It’s in the trillions. As I said earlier this is a war we really starting fighting in the 1930’s and nothing continues to be solved.   So why don’t the dems call for an end to THIS war?  TRILLIONS of your hard earned dollars have been spent over the last 70 years for this cause.  You have no say where your money goes in this situation.  A government that is supposed to be paying for your protection and other small public services according to our constitution is mishandling your hard earned money to pay for the dependency of others.  This is America.  We are not a dependent state.  We have more opportunity in this country than anywhere else in the world.  Welfare, Medicare,  Social Security are just a few examples of the government programs that are mismanaged terribly by politicians in Washington in the name of legacy and “feel good” politics rather than what is right for America. 

 What is right for America is a country of self accountability and self sufficiency.  What is right for America is a country of people that can stand on their own two feet and create for themselves.  The old saying goes as “Fish for a man and feed him for a day, teach him to fish and you feed him for life” and that is more true than people realize.  Instead it seems we leave it to the middle class to not only provide for themselves and their families, but millions of others as well.  It gives new meaning to the joke “work hard every day because millions of welfare recipients are depending on you!!”…. Touche my friend.

 This all being said I’m not against the state helping it’s people in need their own way.  I know some are in a pinch and need help.  I feel each individual state can decide what programs they will have and how they will pay for those said programs themselves.  They know the urgency of their poverty problems MUCH better than any bureaucracy in the federal government.  This also will let the local people have more power and say in the problem through their own chosen leaders in that particular state. We need to weed out the BILLIONS being wasted in fraud.  We need to measure people’s progress.  People have to WANT to climb out of their hole.  If they don’t then maybe they need the wake-up call of falling flat on their own face.  Better the individual learn that way in a free society that offers opportunity rather than a country learning that way through bankrupting itself and it’s already self sufficient citizens.

A time for real leadership…

Well it’s obvious the current leadership just isn’t listening to us.  That goes for EVERYONE in Washington DC whether or not they be a democrat or republican.  The Bush administration seems to be dead set on legacy building in the middle east at the moment(which is ironic considering if they would just build the border fence that in itself would leave a very favorable final action by one of the more polarizing administrations of our time) and we have a congress being led by possibly the most incompetent of duo’s our great country has had the privilege of calling Speaker and Senate Majority Leader.

I want a leader.  I want a leader that will close our borders and abide by the laws already in place for illegal immigrants.  Immigration is hardly a bad thing, but play by the rules.  It’s not unreasonable and the vast majority of the American people agree with me.  I want a leader that will do what it takes to win the war on terror.  That doesn’t just mean militarily, but to the degree needed diplomatically as well.  I want a leader that will know socialism when he/she sees it staring them in the face of some of the most awful legislation our country has seen since the 1960’s in the Lyndon Johnson era.  Socialism is a domestic enemy that we must recognize at every street corner because it is creeping upon us slowly in the name of liberalism. 

 I think…no I BELIEVE in my heart I know the man for that job.  I believe it to be Fred Thompson.  I believe it’s time we finally united as patriots to push back the socialist hordes that have invaded the country under the guise of free speech.  Fred is the only candidate I’ve seen show his actual drawn out plans on how he wishes to accomplish his goals as President.  Good luck, Mr. Thompson.
